Arjan Berkhuysen appointed new NFH chairman of the board
Berkel-Enschot, Terschelling, 7 juli 2023
The Council of the Nature For Health Foundation (NFH) has elected Arjan Berkhuysen as the new chairman of the board. He succeeds Sabine Pinedo, who decided to step down after more than three years of active involvement with NFH.
Arjan Berkhuysen studied Business Administration and has worked for organizations such as P&O Nedlloyd, WWF, and as director of the Waddenvereniging.
Arjan enjoys building and contributing to new initiatives for a healthy and green living environment, including nature restoration projects such as the Dutch Fish Migration River, NL2120, and the European Open Rivers Programme. Currently, Arjan explores how Western societies can reconnect with nature, recognizing that we are all part of nature. Building on the concept of Earthfulness, he brings together scientists, artists, and practitioners to develop more effective practices that help us feel connected to the Earth in our daily lives. Arjan lives with his wife and daughter on the island of Terschelling.
Arjan says about his appointment as NFH chairman of the board:
“I notice that the nature and healthcare sectors are still quite separate worlds, even though there is so much to gain from ‘green care.’ That collaboration offers opportunities for nature, people’s health, and also for reducing waiting lists in healthcare. I want to contribute to that, and I am therefore very happy to do so with such an experienced organization in this field as NFH.”
NFH executive Rob Wolters says on behalf of NFH:
“We are very pleased with Arjan joining us. He is the right person in the right place at the right time. Arjan is a connector, innovative, and naturally brings people together, while highlighting the importance of our connection with nature. That is exactly what we need in our society, and especially in healthcare.”
He continues: “We are grateful for the contributions Sabine Pinedo has made. She has played a significant role in connecting Nature For Health with the heart of healthcare and has helped ensure that NFH has developed into a leading organization in its field within just a few years.”
Arjan will work together with the board, management, and implementation team to set a new course for the coming years.
